Programmes
Where the Society puts its effort: awareness, capacity, standards, research and partnership, and the awards that recognise the people doing the work.
Our programme areas
Awareness and advocacy
We promote awareness on the importance of safety and quality in health systems, and advise government, organizations and communities on strengthening quality.
Capacity strengthening
We support capacity building initiatives to improve safety and quality, through webinars, open days, mentoring and the annual scientific conference.
Standards and assessment
We support healthcare organizations in assessing their performance against recognised standards, and in acting on what the assessment shows.
Evidence gathered here, not borrowed
We support new knowledge and innovation through research and evaluation, so that improvement work in Kenyan facilities rests on Kenyan evidence.
Findings are shared at the annual scientific conference and through the Society’s publications.
We work with others, not alone
We work with others to build partnerships towards safer health systems, including the Ministry of Health, training institutions, professional bodies and development partners.
Members of the Society sit on national technical working groups for quality management and quality of care.
Recognising the people who make care safer
The Society’s awards are presented at the annual scientific conference. Nominations are open to members and to facilities.
An individual whose work has measurably improved safety or quality in their facility.
A hospital, clinic or health centre that has closed a real gap in the quality of its care.
A practical idea, tool or process that made care safer without new resources.
A member in the first five years of practice who is already changing how their team works.
